Logic gates are the basic building gates in digital systems. The logic gates operate on binary numbers. Hence basic gate is called binary logic gates. In the digital system logic 1 represents HIGH voltage where logic 0 represents the LOW voltage. In the digital system, there are three basic logic gates and those are

1. AND Gate
2. OR Gate
3. NOT Gate

### AND Gate:

The AND gate is one of the basic gates. The output of the AND gate is HIGH when all the inputs are HIGH. The output of the AND gate is LOW when at least one input is zero which is shown below. The AND gate symbol and AND gate truth table is shown below.

### OR Gate

The OR gate is one of the basic gates. The output of the OR gate is HIGH when any one of the inputs is HIGH. The output of the OR gate is LOW when all the inputs are zero which is shown below. The OR gate symbol and OR gate truth table is shown below.

### NOT Gate

The NOT gate is one of the basic gates. The output of the NOT gate is HIGH when input is LOW. The output of the NOT gate is LOW when input is HIGH which is shown below. The NOT gate symbol and NOT gate truth table is shown below.

### NAND Gate

NAND Gate is not the basic gate. Basically NAND gate is the complement of AND gate. The output of the NAND gate is HIGH when any one of the inputs is LOW and output is LOW when all the inputs are HIGH. The NAND gate symbol and NAND gate truth table is shown below.

### NOR Gate

NOR Gate is not the basic gate. Basically NOR gate is the complement of the OR gate. The output of the NOR gate is HIGH when all the inputs are LOW else output is HIGH. The NOR gate symbol and NOR gate truth table is shown below.

### EX-OR Gate

EX-OR Gate is not the basic gate. The output of the EX-OR gate is HIGH when the odd number of the inputs are HIGH else output is LOW.  The EX-OR gate is also called as odd detector.The EX-OR gate symbol and EX-OR gate truth table is shown below.

### EX-NOR Gate

EX-OR Gate is not the basic gate. EX-NOR gate is the complement of the EX-OR gate. The output of the EX-NOR gate is HIGH when all the inputs are same else output is LOW. The EX-OR gate symbol and EX-OR gate truth table is shown below.
